Diabetes mellitus is a disease that seriously affects the metabolism of glucose, thus leading to elevated levels in the blood and this state is known as hyperglycemia. The Type 2 is not dependent on insulin (non-insulin dependent) and in the case where it occurs, it is usually seen in adulthood. It is due to the inadequate insulin production. Of all the various types, this type is the commonest. According to medical experts, for every single person that has the condition, another individual that has the condition but has not been detected.
In some cases, it can be due to drug abuse and some other health problems. It is important to comprehend what leads to insulin dependence so that feasible treatment can be given. Whatever the case, it is widely believed that one possible cause of the disease is the destruction of the pancreatic cells that secrete the insulin.
